Interwar Essay

The interwar period was the time lapse between World War I and World War II. Countries like USA, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, China, and Japan were all going through a lot of changes. Some positive and some negative. Britain, United States, and Germany had very negative economic changes. The British stopped working and had an absurd amount of unemployment. Their government kept pushing them and making the people work as if they were still in war. On the other hand, Germany had NO money. They had to pay the rest of the countries the damages they had provoked during World War I. Some American Investors bonded with Germany and made their way into recovery. But that worked until the Stock Market crashed. Not only did the American economy make a ridiculous turn, but it brought the German economy down with it. France pretty much depended on German money, but when they realized the cash wasn't going to come to them that quickly, they decided to attack. Once more lost a large variety of men, not only that, they also lost MORE money. Italy entered a type of depression because they weren't granted with the territories they wanted. They needed those territories in order to increase their financial economy. Most countries were going through negative and conflicting processes. But that's not it, some actually had success in other things...

Germany started with the idea of Fascism. They began a program called "The Twenty-Five Points", which denied all the terms of the Treaty of Versailles. During the parliamentary elections the Nazi party won and put Adolf Hitler as their leader. It was believed that the Nazis were going to increase the military power and maintain the world in control and order. If Hitler might have been in the US instead, the economy would have gone up, and would have gained more power than it already had. The US by itself was a powerful country, but with the ideology of Hitler, its power would have been greater. Not only that, but its economy would had gone up by at least 30% because with the money that the US already had, and all the countries they could have conquered its economy would have been outstanding.
I believe that the interwar period was a time that countries needed to "heal" from WWI. It should had also been a time of planning and learning from mistakes. The country I believe did a decent job at that was Germany. At first, they did follow the "instructions" they were given, but then they became rebels in a way and basically ended up conquering so much territory and had a power that was almost undefeatable.

U.K interwar Prezi

PREZI!

Prezi is a great website for creating presentations. I actually find it very entertaining, especially if you want to create a funner and creative presentation. It is like a "Sandbox" experience. You can just place things and grab them with a single click. If you want a more interactive and delightful presentation this is the place to go. I personally LOVED it. The only thing that gave me a tiny bit of trouble were the enlargement of pictures, I just went crazy with the mouse. Other than that it was so much fun.
I found really easy to add all the pictures and the information I needed. I could practically put them ANYWHERE I wanted. As I said in the paragraph below, the enlarging of images was the only difficulties I had. If I had to work on either Powerpoint or Prezi, I would actually have a easy time deciding. If I had to do a formal presentation with graphs and written information, I would use powerpoint because it is much more organized in that type of things. But if I had to do a fun presentation with images and little information, Prezi would be my number one option.

PSA best

Pending....

Pending...

The best one in the class I think was Debora's and Jade's video. It shows that they really did take their time doing it. The music and all the scenes completely match. This PSA also gives you a good message because it automatically catches your attention. Another good thing about their PSA is that all the information they give is real. Those things really do happen, specially in teens.

PSA

PSA stands for Public Service Announcements. Its and advertisements that doesn't sell you anything, it is more educational. That's why it is different than a commercial. They mostly talk about health and education. The way in which a commercial and a PSA are similar is that they are both promoting something, although a PSA is promoting something like safe sex or no drink and driving. What a commercial promotes is a specific product, such as Doritos or Monster.

I really don't care who I work with. If I work with Debora it would be fine because she's creative and I'm outgoing and that makes a good team. We live close so it would be better. I also wouldn't mind working with Adriana or Fernanda C. because I also live very close to them and we make a good team. Courtney or Hope are also a good options because they are both good friends of mine and I think we can make a really good team.

List:
-Do sports
-Anorexia
-Safe Sex
-Drinking and Driving
-Obesity
-Drugs

Safe sex: I think this subject is super important for teenagers my age and older because people are having sex younger every time. I would do this by doing sort of like a time line, showing how people are have sex and children younger and younger each time.
Drinking and Driving: This is very important also because teenagers go out more and drink more now a days. I would show this by showing sort of like an accident in which a teenager is drunk and causes a lot of damage to other people around.
Drugs: I think that teenagers are a huge impact on their family members, specially if they have younger siblings. If a teenager does drugs, the sibling might think its ok. If I did this I would do how a teenager is doing drugs and a little sibling watching. Then the younger member would go to their room with their friends and do the same. The teen would go in and see how their sibling is doing it to because its "ok".

Comercials

The commercials that we had to watch, were effective in a way. Not all of them were very effective in my point of view, but there were ones that really made me think. I liked them because at least they were funny, or caught my attention. The one that stuck to me the most was Evolution by Dove. I think that one actually gets every woman's attention. It made me realize how beauty is fake. I believe that what impresses everyone the most is that a normal girl that you can see just walking down the street can turn into a model with just make up and a person that's good at photoshop.

In the commercial I make, I think I'll use either humor or information that is important in our lives today. Funny commercials ALWAYS get people's attention, I mean, it makes people watch it. Important information that can be relevant for our everyday life. If we realize how things really are, it automatically catches people's attention. I think that the difficulties I'll have are getting the ideas. I know what I might do, but the ideas of how to express it might be more hard.

Romeo and Juliet comic

For the play Romeo and Juliet, we were divided into groups to convert each act into a comic. This project was extremely fun because it is a different way to understand the play, and much more easier to read. I had a good time trying to be creative with the photos and the text that me and my team-mate wrote. The part in which we had some type of difficulty was when we had to take pictures of more than two characters. Adriana and I had to look for other people to help us interpret each character. In my case, I found it very easy to work with my partner, and that helped us put our ideas together for the comic and do the absolute best we could. I believe that this type of projects help us work together, but also learn together. I'm convinced that our final product really deserves to be put in the library for sign-out. We worked really hard for other people to be able to understand Shakespeare in a pleasant and clever way.
I disagree with the statement that says comics are no way to learn about serious literature. They're actually a much more fun way, I believe. It helps the reader have an image and understand better, specially if it's about an old text that the language is very difficult. Maybe comics are not a very smart way for some people to learn about literature, but for others it is quite the opposite. It is much more simpler, and it might be shorter that the original text. Comics might also have more of a clever way of writing, which can provide interest in the reader. Although, if comics probably have a large amount of text in a small space it might annoy the person reading it. Comics are an excellent way to learn about serious literature, but they have to me written in a creative and entertaining way.

Fuel efficiency

I own a 2009 Ford Edge and in a year I use 241. 7025 of fuel. My dream car is worse than the car I have now because it is a 2010 Volkswagen Beetle so obviously it is going to use more fuel. I would use 425. 685 with the Beetle. Even though it is my favorite car, I admit that in wastes too much fuel for such a small car. Though, I would still buy it.

Liters per 100 kilometers Day Week YR (185)
2009 Ford Edge 6.7 L/100km 1.3065 9.1455 241.7025
2010 Volkswagen Beetle 11.8 L/100 km 2.301 11.505 425.685
2010 Mazda Tribute Hybrid 7.8 L/100 km 1.521

Joy

Something I just was go on a great vacation with my best friends. First, we went to Miami for just one day. While we were there we went to Bayside, which is a really cool outdoor plaza. Next, we went on a cruise. It was so much fun! We went to St. Marteen, San Juan, and Labadee. We met so many people and truly enjoyed ourselves. After that, we went to Orlando. It brought back so many memories of my childhood, and of how much I enjoyed being a child. I had the time of my life and I'm so glad it was all with the people I love the most, my friends and family.

There's so many things I would like to do for myself but the principal one is to get along with my mom. I'm usually fighting with her, which causes us to separate and to lose the trust we have on each other. I try to behave the way she wants me to, but sometimes she just provokes me. Also, I get a lot of my rights taken away if I fight with her. Since I disrespect her, she won't let me do the things I want to like go out and stuff. If we would get along, our house would probably be more peaceful. There would be less fighting and screaming. I feel that getting along with my mom is something I should just do for me.

Well, all me is very special, but something that makes me extra special is my wanting to make everyone happy. I love to see people smile and laugh. Usually, I do very crazy and funny things to make sure they're happy. When people are sad for a certain reason, I like talking to them and try to cheer them up. Letting people know you are here for them and that you'll support them is a way to cheer them up little by little. Another thing I like to do is just try to get along with people. If you do that, I know they'll be happy because they've got a friend. Making people happy is something that makes me special.

Oil Spill

On the late night of April 20th, a fire occured in the Transocean Deepwater Horizon oil rig, about 50 miles from the shore of Lousiana. There were 126 men on board, and after an enormous explosion only 11 didn't make it. The rig collapsed and ended up sinking in the Gulf of Mexico. The safeguards tried to put a cap on the oil well, but it didn't turn out so good. Now, about 200,000 gallons of oil is spilling to the Gulf of Mexico, everyday. This could probably be happening for months, because people haven't really found a solution to solve the oil leak. This is the worst oil spill in history.
This oil spill can cause lots of harm in the world. The tourism of the southern states would obviously lower because the ocean would all be polluted, and thats what people go for during their vacation. Not only that, but also all the coral reefs, and the fish will get polluted. Right now, people can't go fishing for food, because everything in toxic. The company is trying to stop the spill with a gadget called "top hat." It will be positioned a mile below the surface. No gas problem will occur with the new cap. I think this will probably work, or atleast i have hope for it to work. This will defineatly help a lot because it's really an expensive solution, and scientists have really tried it.

Testing

Finally, for the last time this year, we did MAP Testing. It is the the most BORING thing ever, but it's also good in way, because we get to sort of skip classes. I honestly try to do my best, but sometimes I just get tired and start guessing. I know that these tests help teachers know at what level of math and english to put us in, but it also makes me sort of mad to be reading all that stuff that reall doesnt intreast me on the computer. Math isn't so bad, but reading and language...WOW! Well, that's what I think of the testing, but I hate them.

Presentations

Today, I saw three presentations about animal extinction, that my classmates did. They were all very well done and completed. I honestly think that they did an outstanding job. They were very professional, and complete. Mine, was also really good. It had all the things it needed, and some extra few details which made it even better. I honestly liked doing my presentation, it made me learn about endangered species. There were somethings about my presentation that I had to change. Certain images were not very professional, so I have to change them.

Presentations

During my time in school, I have seen some HORRIBLE presentations. There is this one student that every time she makes a powerpoint, it's like torturing me. The schemes she chooses honestly drive me CRAZY. They are way to colorful, I mean some color really isn't bad, but what she uses is excessive (The font she uses sometimes, gets lost with the color of the background). Everyone simply gets a headache just by trying to read it, and she automatically looses the interest of the audience. Using font colors that are too bright, makes it hard for the people to read and understand. While they are trying to do that, the presenter will keep presenting and no one will even know. This is just an example of someone who makes really bad presentations.

Earth Day Project

This project was lots of fun for us to do. Hope and I are both people who care a lot about the nature and would love to have it for much longer. Telling everybody that we should protect the earth by doing a video and singing a song was incredible. Hope loves singing, and I love making videos so it was a perfect mix for us. We only had one difficulty, which was the pictures. We wanted pictures that showed the Earth both as beautiful and ugly. They were both extreme parts of nature, so we both found it hard to find really good pictures. We didn't leave this project for the last minute, so we had lots of time to find the pictures. Not all the pictures were taken while doing the project, some were taken a long time ago, but still match with the presentation. In conclusion, this presentation was lots of fun and I hope we get to do something like this soon.

Spring Break

Having fun was basically all I did this spring break. Well, sort of. The first few days were just like lazy fun. Laying around in my house and maybe going to the gym was all I did. Oh, and go to parties and stuff like that at night. Then, a few friends from Mexico City came over and stayed at a super cool hotel named the Mayan Palace. During almost all of the vacations I basically stayed with them. It was so much fun because we did whatever we wanted.

One day, we went to another hotel called Vallarta Palace, and it's an all-inclusive hotel. We arrived super early and didn't leave until late at night. There, we did so many things. First, at like eleven in the morning we went on a kayak and saw like a GIANT fish trying to eat a smaller one. After about one hour, we rented boogie boards and we were having so much fun trying to catch waves. While I was catching a wave I accidentally hit this lady and she yelled at me. I was honestly laughing so hard and then I apologized.

Another day, we went to a boat and snorkeled. It was like a two hour ride to get to Caletas but we saw so many dolphins, and they were all babies. When we got there I was so scared to be in the water because it was so cold. Finally, I got in and saw so many cute fish. There was like a huge school of fish that were gorgeous. I loved snorkeling so much because I got to actually see fish in their habitat. When I got near a rock, all of a sudden an eel came out and started chasing me so I had to get back on the boat. When we were sailing, I was sleeping so I almost fell of the boat, but thank god I woke up just in time. Well, that was the best thing of my spring break.

The best thing in life is....

The best thing in life is....LOV and friends! Love is probably the best feeling you can receive and give.Without love there wouldn't be anything, every single thing is created by love. Even the bad things come from love, for example, the love for destruction makes bombs, the love for power makes money, and the love for territory creates war.Although the love I'm talking about is the good one, the one that makes us be blind and just be simply crazy. The love that makes me feel incredible and that I'm in another planet. That is one of the BEST things in the world.

Friends are like family but better, we get to chose them. I personally couldn't live without my friends, they are everything to me. I never keep anything from my friends, I think the probably know me better than I know myself. Not only that, but they are always there for me when I need them. Friends help you when you're in need and will always be by your side no matter what. Friends simply love you no matter what. A friend is like your brother or sister, but even better.
